Libbey has its roots in East Cambridge, Massachusetts, home of the New England Glass Company which was founded in 1818. In 1888 the company moved to Toledo, Ohio which offered abundant natural gas, large deposits of high quality sand and a network of railroad and steamship lines. In 1892, the name was changed to The Libbey Glass Company.

Today, Libbey provides the largest selection of tabletop products for consumer markets. Over the last decade it acquired Syracuse China, World Tableware, Traex, Royal Leerdam, Crisal, and Crisa to become the world’s second-largest glassmaker. Libbey quality, consistency, and exceptional customer service have become the standard and it continues to invest in state-of-the-art production equipment and faster and more efficient manufacturing technologies.
